Four Ways to Improve Your Entrepreneur Network

If you want to legitimize your brand or business and stand out against your competition, you must network. Networking is key to finding your target audience and growing a sustainable business. Finding your target audience is a never-ending job as an entrepreneur. Thankfully, networking can make this job more manageable and less demanding.

The following are four ways to improve your entrepreneur networking skills:

Join Social Media Groups

Facebook and LinkedIn offer many different groups within just about any industry or niche you can think about. Being active in these groups helps you learn more about the individual people that make up the industry and what types of problems they need help with. Not only that, but it also fosters new relationships and helps to find connections you can use to collaborate with to share even more valuable and powerful content.

Attend Relevant Events

Look at your local community college to see if there are any events in your industry to attend. This is especially easy for those within the arts and cultural sector as many cities host events downtown to support local artists and small businesses. Facebook has an option to search for local or virtual events.

Have Something to Offer

In other words, if you are only there to take from them, you won’t be able to grow an authentic network. People attract others because they have something valuable to offer. However, you must be careful not to offer too much, you will simply be taken advantage of. It would be best if you found the right balance. If you give too much, they will likely start expecting it. Be sure the relationships you see are genuine before spending too much time. Unfortunately, many relationships in business are just business, so it is always best to protect yourself first.

Maintain the Connection

Once you find the proper networks, you must do the work to keep the relationship going and strong. The stronger the contection with your network, the more likely they will collaborate with you and introduce you to more people within the industry. You also must be prepared to do the same. This can also look like commenting on other creator content as soon as it goes live or sharing their information through your email marketing campaign without expecting anything in return.

As you can see, networking is a lot easier than you think. All it takes is being active within the right communities and fostering a genuine and beneficial relationship between you and the other party. But, unfortunately, if other entrepreneurs can sense you are just looking to steal their audience instead of providing the benefit, it’s unlikely they will join your network or collaborate with your brand.

5 Ways Mentors Can Keep You on Track and Lead You to Success

Do you ever wish someone else could just tell you what to do, give you a little nudge when you feel demotivated, or tell you to knock off those bad habits before you get too far? Thankfully, you are not alone, and many people use these very questions as part of their mission statement. Mentors and coaches can provide exactly what you need to lead a more successful life.

The following are five ways mentors or business coaches can help you be more productive in life and business:

They Provide Knowledge from Hands-on Experience

Mentors can provide experiences, knowledge, and expertise from hands-on experiences. They can warn you or prevent you from making the same mistakes they did, providing you industry education and a way to save your time and frustration.

They Provide Networking

Mentors and coaches know a lot of people. They have to in order to be successful. If they don’t know anyone, who are they coaching? Mentors love to find others to share similar interests to discuss ideas or different concepts to grow their knowledge and gain different perspectives. Opening doors to people or opportunities you wouldn’t get to meet or have the chance to do in the first place.

They Build Up Your Resilience

They show you that even with failure or mistakes, success can happen without you going through the trouble yourself. If anything, they show you that your industry is a viable income source and can provide for you if you stay consistent and provide value somehow.

They Increase Your Self-Esteem and Courage

Mentors are great at providing motivation and inspiration to tackle your goals. Their job is to get your true goals out of yours and help you create an actionable plan to get there. They show you that just with a bit of push, you have exactly what it takes to continue as long as you keep taking action.

They Are Your Accountability Partner

Most importantly, mentors keep you accountable without really doing much work on their part. When you know you will have to go over your activities with someone else and not just yourself, you will want to do better. Impressing people and feelings of validation is normal to feel accepted and can motivate and inspire you to keep going.

If you keep struggling to get where you want in life, whether to achieve personal or business goals, give mentorship or a career coach a try. As you can see, they are a wealth of information, knowledge, and motivation. If anything, it’s another opportunity to continue your education and get to know yourself a little better. It’s easy to get productive when someone else besides you is counting on it.

Business Plan Resources You Can Use

Business Plan Resources You Can Use

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to create your business plan. There are numerous resources you can use to help you. Use this list to find resources to use to help you create the best and most functional business plan possible.

The more you work on this, the more likely you are to be successful. But don’t forget, set a deadline for yourself so that you finish your business plan so that you can get started living the life you dreamed you’d have as soon as possible.

  • Small Business Administration – [https://www.sba.gov/business-guide/plan-your-business/write-your-business-plan] In the USA, you can use information from the SBA to help you create your business plan. They have a lot of precious information on their website and in their offices across the country, and most of it is free or low cost.

  • Business Plan Software – There are numerous choices, such as bplans.com, liveplan.com, and others. They’re all pretty much the same, so you can choose based on what you need.

  • Business Plan Templates – You can find them right inside your MS Office templates and free online. Whatever you do when you do use a template, don’t copy someone else’s information. Make sure you add your own information so you don’t make a mistake. Just use the template for layout purposes.

  • A Business Plan Outline – Once you decide the type of plan you want to create, make your own outline, so you don’t forget to add any information. It does help to have the basic structure laid out, so all you do is fill in your own information.

  • An Accountant or Other Professional Expert – CPAs, Enrolled Agents (EAs), and some bookkeepers who specialize in a business start-up are professionals you want to have on hand to help you with the financial aspects of your business plan. Plus, they can help you with tax planning. Every small business owner should visit a tax planner before they start their business.

  • A Mentor, Coach, or Consultant – There are people who are willing to assist you for free or for payment, depending on your situation. Try going to a local SCORE.org office to get some help with your business plan. You can also find a coach or consultant online. Ask your colleagues for referrals.

  • Find an Incubator – Almost every local city with a college or university has a small business incubator that is willing to help. Check out your local coworking spaces for more information about this. They can help guide you through your research and business plan creation.

Finally, you can also hire someone to create your business plan for you, but this can be expensive. It depends on your situation whether you do it alone, go the volunteer route, or hire someone. The main thing is to learn as much as you can about creating a business plan, read other people’s plans, and then get yours started and done.

Journaling Tips for Burnout Prevention

Numerous studies tout the benefits of journaling for all sorts of issues from helping you lose weight, to helping you build better relationships, and yes, to help you avoid experiencing burnout. Keeping a journal is a great way to get organized as well as dump your thoughts and feelings out to analyze.

Studies are showing that journaling:

  • Reduces symptoms of illness
  • Improves cognitive function
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Offsets adverse effects of stress

While there are some drawbacks such as tired hands, if you’re handwriting your journal, the disadvantages are easy to overcome now that you can use electronic journals. In fact, journaling is a great way to prevent burnout or reduce the effects from and overcome burnout that pretty much anyone can do even if you have a physical or mental disability.

There are different types of journals you can use depending on the problem you’re trying to solve. Let’s look at a few options.

  • Gratitude Journal – This type of journal is simply for writing in it once or twice a day, one to three things you’re grateful for that has happened or that you experienced. It’s useful to read back when you’re struggling as well as beneficial to bring thoughts and feelings of gratitude to your heart and mind daily.

  • Emotional Release Journal – With this journal, you’re going to write in it when you feel overwhelmed emotionally. It’s a good idea to use this type of journal in private so that you can experience your emotions. You can write or speak your feelings, without judgment, to get them out.

  • Bullet Journal Method – This type of journal is a way to keep a journal without having to write complete sentences. You’ll want to have tabs for each part of your life, business, and work. Then you’ll simply use phrases and words in bullet form to remember the task or information.

  • Personal Planning Journal – This type of journal is great for planning your life and your business. It can help you identify places for improvement in your business and your life. It enables you to gain accountability in all areas of your life.

Depending on the type of journal you want to use, the main point is that you should work on being honest with every entry, and also commit to using the diary for at least thirty days before you even start. The only way a journal works is to use it regularly and continually until it’s as second nature as walking and talking. Choose your type of journal, and your method of entry, then just keep doing it every day for a month. After the month is over, you can evaluate whether it helped you or not.
