Becoming More Mindful By Slowing Down on Immediate Gratification

Immediate gratification is defined as the desire to experience fulfillment without delay.

In today’s world, it’s more attainable than ever.

Some common instances of how some people allow themselves immediate gratification are with food, shopping and entertainment.

It’s human nature to want something good and not want to wait for it. But, there’s such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Being conscious of how much immediate gratification we allow ourselves and then slowing down on it has some perks.

If we take the time to ask ourselves what we really need and want and if we’re willing to wait for it, we can become more mindful and productive.

Overconsumption of food, as well as the type of food Americans tend to reach for is a common topic in the US.

Almost all of us are guilty of it. After a long day at work or taking care of our kids, it’s often easier to stop at the fast food drive thru for dinner.

But, just as well known as these facts are, it’s as well known that fast food type foods aren’t good for us.

Instead of the immediate gratification of the easy meal, we can make the mindful decision to choose our health.

All it will take is a little planning ahead to have a healthy and satisfied meal already prepared at home.

By consciously choosing to not give in to the immediate gratification some foods provide, we will be healthier.

Instant Gradification

Shopping is another way people achieve immediate gratification.

It feels good to buy something that we want, or that is a good deal.

With the boom of online shopping it’s as easy as a click away. Do we really need all of these “things”?

Simply being mindful of spending habits can help save money. Financial stability is more important than the “next new thing”.

Entertainment is immediate too. Almost everyone has a smartphone. The internet is at our fingertips at all times. I

t’s not uncommon for people to be on their phones constantly checking social media sites or playing on gaming apps.

If we are able to put the phones and computers down and actively engage, we will build stronger, more meaningful, productive relationships.

By being mindful of our urges for immediate gratification, we can curb them. We can take a front seat in decisions that affect our lives. Immediate gratification is so easy, especially in this day and age.

But, easy is not always best in the long run.

My # 1 Recommendation

Changing Your Mindset: Attitude is Everything

Keeping a positive outlook can be a struggle during times of uncertainty and understandably so.

It’s easy to feel surrounded by doom and gloom when you’re virtually sequestered.

Making things even more difficult is the constant flood of information coming from the news and social media sites. It’s important to take your mental health seriously, and mindset seems to be the key.

There are two camps out there when it comes to mindset during challenging times. Some people are able to focus on the positives, while others seem to be more challenged to keep a productive, positive mentality.

Positive thinking

This “new normal” that we’re facing comes along with all sorts of new ways of living.

Attitude can really be everything when it comes to a healthy mindset.

We are asked to change our behavior and how we interact with others. This can feel isolating. But, what about thinking of it as an opportunity to spend much needed quality time with your immediate family.

Maybe you find yourself unexpectedly out of work and home with the kids. You could give in to the worry and let it stress you out. Or you can use this extra time spent with children and bring the family closer.

Try making it a fun experience to remember! Not all learning is done in the classroom or behind a computer screen.

How about taking the kids outside for a nature walk to collect leaves or flowers and then label them. Or, try a homemade weather station, where they measure and record the daily temperature, rainfall and humidity. There are plenty of resources out there for fun, active learning ideas.

Another way to keep positive is to try and unplug. It’s necessary to take a conscious step back from the tv or computer screen.

Try not to let yourself be inundated with negative news 24/7. Remember, there are still good things happening in the world. Maybe search for some funny cat videos to watch, or Facetime with friends and family.

Do something to make yourself smile.

Sometimes something as small as what you’re wearing can make all the difference in how you feel. Even if you’re working from home now, getting up and getting dressed as if you were headed to the office, may give that needed mood boost and positive motivation. Achieving a positive outlook can be as simple as daily positive affirmations. Find what works best for you.

Get better

Giving yourself a mood-makeover is something we can all do to help ourselves stay focused on the positives during this time of uncertainty. Remember, no one is perfect. So, if you feel yourself starting to slip into negative thinking patterns, try making a conscious effort to rearrange your mindset. A positive attitude can go a long way!

How to Turn Negative Self Talk into More Productive Energy

Today I came across an interesting Article on negative Self Talk.

My Take on the Article

Whether it’s feeling bad about not hitting goals or feeling your not picking a Skill Set up as Quickly as others.

Do you find yourself saying I will never figure this out?

Nothing is working out I may as well Quit Trying.

I am too old to figure it all out.

Studies do show Changing negative Dialogue Is needed to develop a more Productive Energy.

If you are guilty of Calling yourself Names or Don’t Stretch yourself to try something new for fear of failure, here’s how to deal with your Negative Thoughts.

1. Recognize Your Negative Thoughts
So if you have Negative thoughts like I am too old, too fat or I will not be successful because _____Fill in the Blank.

Many of your thoughts are automatic. They just pop into your head without any conscious effort.

Evaluate your thoughts so you can recognize thoughts that are unrealistic, unproductive, or irrational.

2. Look for Evidence That Your Thought Is True
Just because you think something doesn’t make it true.

“What’s the evidence this is true?”

Sticking with The I am Too old example.

You may be slower to grasp some of today’s Technology,

Skillsets are taking you a long time to master.

3. Look for the Evidence Your Thought Isn’t True
Then, create a list of reasons why your thought might not be true.

Although you have not developed a level of competency you were hoping for yet your courage to keep going is moving you forward.

If you struggle to find evidence–which is common when your emotions run high–ask yourself, “What would I say to a friend who had this problem?” If your co-worker said, “I’m not improving as hard as I try. ,” you’d likely be able to find some kind words to help the situation, so be nice to yourself.

4. Reframe Your Thought Into Something More Realistic
Once you’ve looked at the evidence on both sides of the equation, develop a more realistic statement.

Telling yourself, I am moving forward daily on goals and I learn something new Every day.

5. Ask Yourself How Bad Would It Be If Your Thoughts Were True?

Ask yourself, “How bad is it really if it takes me longer to gain this skill.” Then, spend a few minutes thinking how you’d respond.

I wanted to have the right skills to achieve my goals in Business and so what if it takes longer. If it is going to take 1yr or more isn’t it worth the Journey.

Practice Replacing Negative Self-Talk
You might never get rid of your negative self-talk completely–and that’s fine.

The more you practice replacing your negative self-talk the better you will get at it.

Beating yourself up Is never a Good Thing.

Day 6 Real Growth Requires You To Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Can you think back on a time of real life-changing Growth, be it in-home business, in your individual life, or anywhere else? Did you need to get out of your comfort zone?

More than likely, you had to step out of a place where you are comfortable for that growth to occur.

Yes, we can make progress by doing what we have actually always done.

danger zone

It will be slow as well as much more notably, by staying within your comfort zone, you are limiting your possible development.

It’s when we step out of that area, try something new, take a little bit of danger, and allow for personal and skills growth that we start to see big changes for the better.

Let’s say your goal is to grow your reach and also increase your target audience.

What you’ve done so far and what really feels comfy is creating a blog post a week and afterwards sharing it on social networks.

Yes, some readers will certainly discover you.

Yes, if you increase workload, publishing even more blog posts per week as well as sharing regularly across all your social media accounts, you will see some increased growth in your business.

However, you’re remaining in your comfort zone.

What if instead of increasing the same types of tasks you switched it up a bit.

Why not explore writing as a guest blogger on another blog for more exposure?

How about finally facing your fears and start a YouTube, Channel?

Youtube is a perfect way to repurpose some old blog post.

Once you produce your video on the Blog topic you can embed it on your blog post to give new life to your Blog.

Including Video in the mix of your weekly workload increases your chances of being found and building your community.

Recording a series of video clips provides you with the opportunity to get to a totally different part of your target market.

There are lots of people who would rather view video web content to typed out articles on a Blog.

There are people that spend hrs daily on YouTube who would never come across you and your blog otherwise.

Investing money on paid ads can sound like a terrifying idea but once you find something that works, convert well and you if you have a budget it may be time to scale with advertising.

Note this should not be done without knowing what your conversions are.

If you decide to put your money into paid ads make sure are tracking your results

I would like to mention everyone feels awkward when starting something new.

Remember your first Blog post?

How long did it take you to finally hit the publish button?

When you start anything it may seem hard or awkward but with consistent work, it does get easier.

So jump out of your comfort zone.

If you need to set up a Youtube do it today!

Then do your first video.

Good luck.

Are Baby Boomers working after Retirement

Are Baby Boomers Continuing to Work after they Retire?

Yes, you know that many retirees do continue to work for many years after Retirement Age.

Baby Boomers have a great deal to offer in the world of Entrepreneurship.

So many years of Experience to share.

Baby Boomers Technology

“For Baby Boomers who have been studying the Internet Marketing World but are not quite satisfied with their marketing skills and feel at times overwhelmed by all the different steps needed to make a successful Online Business. Baby Boomers, stay at
home moms or anyone struggling with the task of learning new skills   “I absolutely know how you feel. Nobody was as Frustrated trying to learn the online marketing niche than I was. At times feeling like a total loser, until I realized every day I was learning new and valuable skills and that you can’t compare yourself to some younger person who has been learning technology stuff their whole life.

I struggled in my business until I learned these 6 simple strategies that keep me more focused.

I know the pain. I remember many times I felt like throwing my computer against the wall when I could not figure out how to do a simple thing like adding a picture to my blog or setting up my auto responder. There were many times my husband would beg me to walk away from the computer for a while and try later. My answer would often be “if I stop now I will have to start all over again”.

At times of Frustration I have to remind myself the reasons Why I wanted to start my Business. I have been working in Real Estate for many years and although I do have some flexibility in the hours I choose to work I found out quickly that if you want to make good money you need to put in many hours. I want to be able to have more freedom in my life spending more time with family and friends and traveling where I want and when I want. The real estate business is not scalable. If I want more money I need to work more hours Trading my time for Money. Finally I had to ask myself “Is there a Better Way?”

I remember feeling so dumb because I couldn’t figure out the whole social media thing. It seems like you just start working with one platform like Face Book and then everyone starts saying you need to check out Pinterest or Instagram. It can Drive you crazy.

I heard someone say on a web cast “Do what you Know While you Learn and Grow” and I make that my mission in my daily life. If I suddenly feel overwhelmed I just repeat those words over and over again.

“Do what you know while you learn and Grow”

Here are my Six Steps that Keep me Focused

1. Be Consistent in your daily commitment to building your business.

Being consistent helps to measure your growth, establish your reputation and consistency continues to promote your Message.

2. Read good business building and self help books or materials every day.

Reading daily helps to keep you informed, helps you to set goals and increases your focus.

I agree with Jen Sincero “We need kickass people to be out of struggle and living large and on purpose so they can be an inspiration to others who want to rise up too.”

This is a philosophy I truly believe.

3. Do at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. For some this may be too little but I am talking the person who does not exercise at all. Get up and move It will help keep you energized.

Exercising daily Boost some Crazy Happy Feelings and keeps me energized through the day. “When I walk 1-3 miles daily I find I am happier, less stressed and have more energy to do what is needed for my business.

4. Drink Plenty of water daily.

Keeping hydrated can have a huge impact on overall health… Just do it

5. Celebrate your successes.

Don’t wait for some great Big Goal to be met. As you progress in your overall goals take the time to reward yourself for achieving little milestones in your business plan. This could be 21 successful days of posting on your blog, reaching your first 30 leads per day or reaching a monthly monetary goal you have worked consistently to achieve.

6. Find a Mentor and Accountability Partner

I have many Mentors in my life and before you start thinking I could never afford a mentor (some can be 40K and more) let me make myself clear I don’t think you have start spending a lot money on Mentors but you should be following people who have the lifestyle you want and start modeling what they have done to become successful.

What is your Next step: That really depends on what you want out of your life.

I have been an entrepreneur for years working from home and enjoying a flexible schedule so that I can attend my Grand kids award ceremonies something I could seldom do when my two girls were growing up and I was working in the Corporate world.

I am part of a community who believes in paying it forward and helping others succeed to have a freedom lifestyle.

This unique opportunity but you must be willing to work and follow the steps laid out for you.

If you have a Dream of working from home and having more freedom in your life and are willing to commit to your Success then Click the link below and check out the System Many are using to set themselves Free.
